Refined Reflections: The Best of Genius Loci
Exeter Cathedral is the only cathedral I've visited that seamlessly blends epic grandeur with intimate pockets of bejewelled spaces with decoration that touches upon notions of an earthly paradise.
I’m mesmerised by it. The carving is a breathtakingly beautiful, organic embodiment of a whale.
The whole complex dates from the C13th when Bishop Jocelin acquired a licence to build a hall and deer park on the land to the south of the cathedral.
