About R. Moore Building Conservation.
Founded by Rory Moore, following a career spanning over 40 years in the stonemasonry and historic building conservation industry, R Moore Building Conservation is dedicated to preserving the architectural heritage of Wales and the North-West of England. Rory’s extensive experience gained through involvement in some of the region’s most significant historic structures and sensitive projects within this field, has fuelled his passion for building conservation and the use of traditional skills within the heritage sector.
Whilst working as a Company Director from 2009 - 2023, his extensive experience included managing and executing significant conservation projects on Churches and historic buildings such as:
Chester Cathedral: Abbey Gate masonry conservation repairs including leadwork roof repairs, plastic mortar repairs, hot lime repointing and replacement of defective masonry, The Pilgrim’s Entrance regeneration, Chester at Heights project.
Chester City Walls: Watergate Tower masonry repairs, lead roofing works, new balustrading. Morgan’s Mount pointing masonry repairs, flagging and architectural decorative metal handrails. King Charles Tower internal refurbishment, including conservation repairs and installation of a stainless-steel artwork space frame. Watergate Bridge stabilisation and reconstruction in new masonry.
St. Margaret’s Church Bodelwyddan (The Marble Church): Dismantling and reconstruction of defective masonry in the bell ringing chamber and parapet.
Bodnant Gardens’ The Pin Mill: Re-roofing, lime-washing and conservation works.
The Propylaeum, Chester: New lead roofing, replacement of iron cramps, conservation and masonry repairs.
