St. Mary Magdalene, Boveney in Buckinghamshire sits cheek by jowl next to the River Thames just a couple of miles from Windsor. Originating in the C12th, this church has one of the most beautiful and striking settings in the country.

I notice another map - this time it holds a different set of boundaries. There’s one that encompasses large scathes of England like a blood red stain. This is a map of Anglo-Saxon Britain and the blood red stain is that of Danelaw.
