About the Artwork

I sat to one side of the chancel arch on a bench and watched the light wash over the textured surfaces. Then I started to work on the sketch - people came and went. Some said hello and talked about how beautiful the building was. One gentleman said that it was his lifetime's ambition to be here. Another couple commented on my sketch and one student said that she would come back and try and sketch the chapel herself.

Whilst I was sketching I thought of all the people that have passed through this place.

And as I layered my sketch up with colour I couldn't help but think that this place was layered up with memories.
